Nature has always played a profound role in the path of realization. Buddha took his seat beneath the Bo tree and realized enlightenment upon seeing the morning star. Jesus was baptized in the waters of the River Jordan. Taoism is a reflection of nature itself, and Zen is deeply rooted in Taoism and its connection to earth, water, fire, and wind.
Wilderness practice offers us an opportunity to connect to the natural world’s beauty and challenges and realize that we are not separate. Our intention on this retreat is to connect deeply to the five elements by learning basic wilderness skills and embarking on a 24-hour solo for all participants.
Participants must provide all their own camping equipment, including shelter and sleeping gear. The retreat will provide simple meals, water, and wag bags.
