Join Michael Mugaku Zimmerman Roshi for a unique weekend urban retreat at Artspace Zendo. We are pleased to offer Zen training in a silent Sesshin in our beautiful Zendo in downtown Salt Lake City.

Take a long weekend breath to discover intimately that your busy life and quiet mind are never separate. In this silent retreat over 4 days you will:

— Engage in sitting and walking meditation with instruction from a transmitted Zen Teacher.
— Participate in Dharma talks by Mugaku Roshi and inquiry with your fellow practitioners.
— Have the opportunity for an individual interview about your practice.
— Enjoy healthy and delicious meals, all with vegetarian options.

Full days include extended periods of zazen, walking meditation in the city, shared work practice (samu), meals together, interview with the Teacher (Dokusan), and Dharma Talks.

We recommend that you have attended a Day of Zen with Mugaku Roshi prior, or a similar multi-day meditation retreat with extended periods of meditative practice.

MEALS
You will enjoy healthy and nutritious meals during the retreat. Meals are largely vegetarian, with some other protein options at lunch.

The meditative walk on Friday or Saturday will include a vegetarian/vegan lunch at a local restaurant. The cost of the lunch is included in the retreat fee.

Main courses are mostly vegetarian with other protein options available at lunch. Everyone is served the same meal. If you have medically necessary dietary restrictions, such as strictly gluten-free or lactose-free, we ask that you bring your own food to supplement. We will have gluten-free cereals available at breakfast and a limited supply of other gluten-free items at other meals. A medically diagnosed allergy to seafood or nuts requires that you inform us, and maintain your own rescue medication, such as an epi-pen.

We regret we are not able to prepare special meals for individuals or provide refrigerated food storage in the kitchen.

PARKING
Parking is free at Artspace Zendo. Ask for a TAZ parking sticker to use Visitor parking spaces in front of the Artspace Building and parking in the Macaroni Flats lot next door to the south. The sticker is free and must be visible on the driver side windshield of your vehicle to assure that parking enforcement can see your authorization to park after hours and for extended periods.
