Zen Study & Practice with Diane Musho Hamilton Roshi
Compassionate Conversations – Talking About Climate
January 18 – March 21, 2020; April 11 – June 20, 2020 (20 classes)
Saturdays, 9:00 – 10:30 MT via Zoom Conferencing

After a very broad inquiry in Fall, 2019 into our relationship to the climate and the changes we are experiencing, one of our most important take-aways from the course is realizing that we must all learn to talk about it, engaging constructive conversation re climate change whenever possible. To that end, we have decided to look more closely at how to facilitate and support constructive conversations about climate change.

This course is designed around the skills needed to have productive conversations about climate change in all kinds of contexts, especially with the people that we care most about. Each week, in 90-minute sessions, we will explore dimensions of compassionate conversation focused on the topic for that session.

Meditation practice will be emphasized, as well as communication skills and compassionate, effective activity regarding our culture and systems, and the need for immediate personal and collective change. Our hope is that the conversation will be deep, compelling, and broad, and will equip us to better support the conversations about climate that are happening all around us.
